A senior diesel engine generator mechanic working offshore is responsible for maintaining and repairing diesel engines and generators used to power offshore oil rigs and other structures.

To become a senior diesel engine generator mechanic, you will typically need to have a high school diploma and a certificate or associate’s degree in diesel engine technology or a related field. In addition to formal education, you will also need to have several years of experience working as a diesel engine generator mechanic, as well as a strong understanding of the principles of diesel engine operation and repair.

In this role, you will be responsible for diagnosing and repairing problems with diesel engines and generators, including troubleshooting issues with fuel systems, ignition systems, and other components. You will also be responsible for performing regular maintenance tasks, such as changing oil and filters, checking fluid levels, and adjusting engine settings to ensure optimal performance. In addition, you may be responsible for keeping accurate records of maintenance and repair work, as well as ordering parts and supplies as needed.

To be successful in this role, you should have strong mechanical skills, as well as the ability to work independently and follow technical instructions. You should also be able to work well in a team environment, as you may be required to collaborate with other mechanics and engineers to troubleshoot and repair complex systems.
